A
Abandoned Sectors
Areas of land ruined by the toxic presence of Red Gloom.
Abandoned Sectors were created thanks to the chemical warfare from the Artunian War. After the war, these sectors slowly formed over the years, taking over random, mostly wildlife areas throughout the Central Axis. Their eventual discovery by GearTerra led to the beginning of the Three Cities Era.
Physically, Abandoned Sectors are lands where the ground and air are saturated with Red Gloom. The toxin spreads out from each sector, infecting more and more of the world around it. Because these sectors contain so much Red Gloom, they are extremely dangerous, easily causing Gloom-Corruption to any beings that enter or are consume by them. As such, Abandoned Sectors are largely deserted, with Gloomers commonly lurking within.
One of GearTerra’s main goals is to eradicate all Abandoned Sectors and restore their corrupted lands. However, Red Gloom's persistent, spreading nature—as well as the extreme aggression of Gloomers—has made this effort both difficult and dangerous. This is all further complicated by the fact that Gloom-Corruption permanently links its victims to the specific batches that infect them. Significant resources are then spent to properly store and protect batches that infect humans.

Antimatter Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control antimatter.
Antimatter is potentially a highly destructive substance. Because antimatter is the mirror opposite of regular matter, they violently annihilate one another during physical contact, releasing immense amounts of energy. An experienced user can mitigate these resulting explosions, as well as control the exact form their antimatter takes. Regardless of the form, antimatter is always purple in color.

Artunians
A race of humans that originate from Artunirus. Artunians are unique in that they are born with the exclusive Toon Axiom.
Artunians notably have cartoony physical properties, like black beady eyes and round protruding noses. However, Artunian genes are highly recessive. Offspring from an Artunian and non-Artunian couple usually fail to inherit any Artunian properties, including the Toon Axiom. Because of this, the Three Cities Era has slowly led to a significant decrease of humans with Artunian traits.

Atriums
Chambers of the heart. All hearts only have 3 atriums:
Left Atrium
Right Atrium
Center Atrium
Each atrium can only hold 1 active Axiom. As such, a being can possess a maximum of 3 Axioms. Passing this limit will lead to harsh and immediate health complications. The specific atriums that are active determines the user’s Stress Type.
The more active atriums, the more stress on the user’s heart. This effects their resting heartrate, resulting in a shorter lifespan.
Axioms
Special powers that are stored within and fueled by a heart, specifically an atrium.
There are many different types of Axioms, with most allowing their user to create and control an element or energy. If an Axiom is inactive, it is called an Empty Axiom. Beings that possess at least 1 active Axiom are called Trueborns, while those without any active Axioms are called Falseborns.
Most Axioms are gained through birth, but some must be unlocked. A few Axioms can be obtained from external sources or sacrificed by their user.
Axionite
A highly durable, rare type of crystal with a connection to Axioms.
Any element or energy can become Axionite when it is compressed into a tight space for a long time—at least a full day. The longer the compression time, the stronger the Axionite. However, this element/energy MUST come from an Axiom user. Elements/energy naturally compressed by the environment will NOT become Axionite.
Exposure to plasma can upgrade Axionite into “gem” levels, each producing different effects:
Gem Level 1: Protodrive Gems.
Gem Level 2: Underdrive Gems.
Gem Level 3: Overdrive Gems.
Axisguards
Heroic vigilantes. The term “axisguard” was inspired by the alias of the first officially recognized vigilante. Most axisguards carry an alias, usually created in current times by news reporter Tina Bernard.
There are very few axisguards currently active in the world. This is largely due to the fading influence and popularity of the Silver Age of Axisguards. As such, today’s axisguards are considered to be part of the Bronze Age.
Due to their general protective and brave nature, axisguards are sometimes considered to be a new kind of Valor.
B

Celestial Energy
A holy purifying energy.

Center-Bite
A Stress Type that occurs when the Left and Right Atriums are the only atriums with an active Axiom.
The heartbeat pattern produced by this Stress Type is ((THUM-THUM... hum... THUM-THUM...))

An Axiom that allows its user to convert their blood plasma into Crimson Energy. This Axiom is usually exclusive to humans.
Crimson Energy
A hot and glowing plasma-like energy.

Dragon Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control Dragon Flame. This Axiom is usually exclusive to Dragons.
Besides the use of Dragon Flame, the Dragon Axiom can allow their draconic user to develop and use the following abilities:
Scale Control: The user can control the scales around their body. This can allow its user to harden parts of their body for offense and defense, but this significantly increases their weight, making flight difficult. This ability can also be used to bend the light around their body, allowing the user to make themselves brighter or invisible.
Draconic Roar: The user can emit a loud roar that unleashes a harsh pulse of sound outwards.
Flame Wings: The user can create wings with their Dragon Flame, which greatly improves their flight capabilities.

Dragons
A varied species of intelligent reptiles from the Central Axis.
For most humans, Dragons are cryptids; very few have been sighted in the present day. They are a secretive species, with a fierce and prideful warrior-like culture. Past conflicts have led them to be bitter rivals against Plexians and Gullacians.
Like some reptiles, Dragons have a long lifespan and reproduce asexually, with each offspring seen as a “clone variant” of their predecessor. All Dragons also exclusively possess the Dragon Axiom.
3 types of Dragons exist:
Type-B: Stocky quadrupedal dragons with large wings. They specialize in flight.
Type-D: Bulky bipedal dragons with long legs, short arms, and no wings. They specialize in defense.
Type-H: Bipedal dragons with wings and humanoid body proportions. They specialize in long-distance combat.
E
Earth Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control the element of earth.
Electric Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control the element of electricity.
Energy Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control ambient energy. Outside of varying a lot in color, this energy does not have any special physical properties. It typically produces concussive effects.
Any energy that is left around in the world unattended for enough time will become ambient energy. This will allow any user of the Energy Axiom to then gain control of it.

F
Falseborns
A being that has no active Axioms. Nearly all animals are Falseborns.
Fire Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control the element of fire.
Firework Axiom
An Axiom that allows its user to create and control fireworks.
Focusers
A special kind of weapon that is tied to the use of Axioms.
Physically, Focusers are hollow weapons that purify the element/energy that passes through them. This allows the user to empower and have greater control over the element/energy they command.
A big disadvantage to using Focusers is that their wielder can become overly accustomed to it. They can rely on their weapon so much that they cannot use their Axioms without it.
